Musiq Soulchild

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Musiq Soulchild, a soulstar bred and cultured mostly in Philadelphia is set to realease his new album this 9th of December entitled, “On My Radio”. He claims claims he had developed a sound by fusing together the essence of “Soul Music” with “Funk” rules and “Hip Hop” swagger. On my opinion, the preceding statement evidently sums up his unique artistry.+/-

Special

This track is a collaboration between Soulchild and India.Arie and is said to be Arie’s single for her album, “Testimony Vol. 2. Love and Politics”. This one’s riveting smooth with Soulchild included in it. Others preferred her earlier works but this ones alright with me. The lyrics also is squeamish and over-the-top but I like it.

I don’t mean to be decadent,
I might sound like a hedonist.

Dedication 3, Your Fu*king Melting Pote 2, Buffet Libre & Audio Racquet

This post is rather heavy so fly away and look sharp.

I have been sifting my mails and found out lots of monster mixtapes from DJs and artists. Others have been rotting in my mail all the time and some are newly sent.

I have chosen four mixtapes to share to you- Lil Wayne‘s Dedication 3, Leam or Rosebud‘s Your Fucking Melting Pote, Buffet Libre‘s Cover Projects and George O’Connor‘s Audio Racquet. It was a blast listening to these tunes, everything’s hard-thumping and will slap you in the face.

This post is my gratitude for all the support you folks been giving my little blog. Thanks everyone and peace. I hope your eardrums explode after hearing these tunes. Haha.

Listening to a mixtape is a process so download the whole thing.

T-Pain x 3

Another one bites the dust- sorry bout this reposting.

T-Pain is dope. Even though the words he’s singing are amusing, he still can turn any track to an awesome surprise. His new record, ‘Thr33 Ringz’ is coming out this Nov. 11.

Medeski, Martin & Wood

Photobucket

If you’re in for killer harmonious instruments, Medeski, Martin & Wood is the name you’re looking for. I always go for vocals but this jazzfunksoul brothers does perfect without it. They have a new record, ‘Radiolarians 1’- the first of a three part series of new recordings and I was lucky to be given a copy. Here’s a few tracks for you to listen to this amazing ensemble.+/-

Medeski, Martin & Wood

Medeski Martin & Wood, or MMW, is a jazz trio originally formed in 1991, consisting of John Medeski on keyboards, Billy Martin on drums and percussion, and Chris Wood on double bass and bass guitar.

Medeski Martin & Wood was initially a straightforward acoustic jazz trio, but Medeski quickly added a Hammond organ when the difficulties of touring with a piano became apparent. This more soul jazz oriented direction led to the incorporation of other musical genres, including funk, hip hop, trip hop and free jazz. Medeski has also utilized a number of different keyboard instruments, such as a mellotron, a melodica, and a clavinet, among others.

Tigercity

Recently I stumbled on Tigercity’s myspace and found out they just finished mixing their new full length record. Its being mastered shortly, and is currently untitled. This is the unconfirmed track list. ‘Pretend Not to Love’ was released back on September 09, 2008 and brought along fun tracks such as ‘Other Girls’ and ‘Are You Sensation’. Who didn’t dance to this tunes?+/-

Tigercity

Sounding like Bee Gees, Prince and Roxy Music, Tigercity’s funky, electro-driven indie-pop was born of a desire to avoid what Gillim calls the “scratchy post-punk guitar sound” New York bands have been milking for the past few years. The group’s earliest tracks relied heavily on synthesizers and computerized beats, but their move to New York brought the addition of drummer Aynsley Powell and guitarist Andrew Brady, and with them a progressively refined combination of New Wave’s mechanized sheen and funk’s organic grooves.

The Renassiance

American hip-hop emcee, singer, actor, and hip hop producer, Q-Tip is said to be releasing new album “The Renassiance” this Nov. 4. Some might not know that his name symbolizes his power to penetrate into one’s ears (as the Q-Tip cotton swab). Wiki is great. A known legend in Hiphop scene, Q-tip worked with the likes of Norah Jones, Raphael Saadiq, D’Angelo and Amanda Diva in this new album. So if you care to listen to a lil bit of Hiphop, blues and soul, catch the date.+/-

Q-Tip

Q-Tip (born Jonathan Davis on November 20, 1970 in New York City), is an American rapper, actor, and record producer, and is the former leader of the group A Tribe Called Quest, from which he was also known as “Abstract”. He converted to Islam in the mid-1990s, and changed his name to Kamaal Ibn John Fareed. The Q in Q-Tip’s stage name stands for Queens, the borough of New York City from which he hails. He also refers to himself as The Abstract (originally The Abstract Poetic) and Kamaal the Abstract.
